SUMMARY:Intentional Coaching & Mentoring - Skills for STEM Faculty (All Grades)

Use code SummerSTEMFLASH25 at checkout and let the STEM adventure begin!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us and reimagine coaching and mentoring through a lens of collaboration and community! \n\n\nLeaders: Juliette Guarino Berg\, Dr. Allan Powe \nDates: July 11\, 2023\, 9:00am-3:00pm (in-person @The Portfolio School) \nAbout the Workshop Series \nIn your role as a STEM department chair\, curriculum leader\, or faculty member\, you may have been asked to coach and/or mentor a new member of your department. That faculty member may arrive with years of experience or maybe fresh out of college. So what do you do? How can we bring together our intrinsic and extrinsic motivations to serve as a mentor\, and the desire to pass on institutional and pedagogical knowledge to a new member of the community? How do we\, as STEM educators\, reimagine coaching and mentoring through a lens of collaboration and community building? \nJoin aspiring\, novice\, and experienced coaches and mentors in this interactive workshop to “level up” your approach to onboarding new STEM faculty to your institution. We will explore best practices in coaching and mentoring that will help you refine and enhance your skills as well as introduce strategies to make the coach/mentee relationship engaging and rewarding for all involved. We will then roleplay specific scenarios that will put your newly-acquired skills into practice as well as address and resolve some of the challenges faced by faculty as they become integral members of new institutions. You’ll leave with a toolkit of skills and strategies to reframe the coaching experience and make the upcoming school year the best year ever! \nAppropriate for those looking to hone their coaching and mentoring skills; newly retired teachers; department chairs\, curriculum leaders\, or other STEM faculty members expecting to mentor new colleagues in the near future. \nCost:  (Limited # of tickets!) \nTeacher Price $50 \nSchool Price $75 \nSTEMteachersNYC delivers professional development workshops for teachers\, by teachers\, about teaching\, since 2011.
