Beam – Arch – Truss! Building Bridges with the League of Young Inventors!

Dates: May 21, 2022, 11:00-12:30pm | Meets in-person in Brooklyn.

About the Mini-Workshop

Looking at the League of Young Inventors Building Bridges unit, we will explore and build a variety of bridge types in order to better understand their strengths – and weaknesses. We will consider various bridge types, and how the decision to use a specific bridge shape is ultimately determined by the location of the bridge, the type of load it will need to support, and the materials available to build with. To culminate the workshop, we will apply our newly acquired expertise about bridges toward designing our own bridge prototypes to solve real-world challenges faced by NYC communities. Each participant will receive a complete Building Bridges kit of materials for hands-on building.
