The New York State Living Environment contains four required labs that are tested on the regents exams. However, as many educators have noted, these lab experiences are extremely cookie-cutter in nature. But do they have to be? If you are a teacher of Living Environment and want to see a glimpse of how these labs could be made interactive and Socratic in nature, thus engaging students and promoting learning, then this is the workshop for you! Join us as we explore these labs and see how they can be changed in such a way that makes them more inquiry-based while retaining the necessary goals set out in the Living Environment curriculum. Participants can expect to perform these labs as “students” and witness teaching strategies that emphasize the inquiry nature of science as well as leave with classroom ready resources!
