Leaders: Peter Davenport and Fernand Brunschwig
Format and Dates: One 3 Hour Session, 10/23/2021 (8:45-11:45am EDT – raindate Sunday Oct 24)
Group Meets at 103rd Street & Central Park West
Description: Central Park is an urban oasis for birds as well as people. During the fall, a variety of birds stop in Central Park to rest and refuel during their migration south, while others make it their temporary home. Join us for a walk through the north end of the park to learn about some of the “snow birds” and winter residents—sparrows, finches, sapsuckers, waterfowl, blackbirds, raptors—and search for late migrants and rarities such as warblers, flycatchers, shorebirds, owls and more. Learn how to identify the birds and find out about their behavior. Bring walking footwear and binoculars and/or a camera with a good telephoto lens. Don’t be late—We will start walking at 8:45 am sharp.
