Come learn a fantastic approach to deepen your students understanding of core chemistry concepts – states of matter and energy. The workshop will focus on and utilize gas behavior activities to show how energy is involved in phase changes. You will conduct and discuss experiments that you can utilize in your own classroom to guide students to reach a deeper understanding of particle behavior, and energy’s role in determining this behavior. We will develop an understanding of gases by interpreting the experimental results graphically and by constructing particle models that mirror the graphical trends observed. Your students will be able to apply this deeper understanding to other chemistry and science concepts. You’ll be amazed how this engaging approach promotes student discourse, sense-making, and confidence.
