Ever notice how history and english classes often have students read and analyze primary sources, yet this rarely happens in a science class? In this workshop, we’ll take a look at how to integrate scientific primary sources (aka: scientific paper and microscopy results) into your lessons. Workshop leader Evie Alexander will share resources she has developed and which are freely available on her website https://sciencewithevie.com/ngss/, where she has also linked each to the NGSS. Participants will first move through a hands-on introduction on how to create a year-long curriculum centered around pond microorganisms. Then, you’ll get a chance to review primary sources about these microorganisms and brainstorm ways to use this rich database of articles in your lessons. Participants will choose from over 100 NGSS-linked articles!
