Earth’s Energy Budget Using My NASA Data Lessons (HS)

November 13 @ 12:00 pm 3:00 pm

Grade Level

High School

Understand strengths and limitations of the conceptual model used to describe the complex energy transfer in the Earth systems.

Leaders: Nathalie Macke

ClimateSTEM Series, Focus on “Systems Thinking” .

A new suite of My NASA Data lessons that address Earth’s energy budget have been developed by teacher interns for NASA this past summer. Participants will engage as model students in select lessons that have been developed to help understand the strengths and limitations of the conceptual model used to describe the complex energy transfer in the Earth system. After being provided time to briefly investigate and evaluate the lessons, participants will consider how to best connect their students and communities with this complex topic, and spend time developing a learning progression for their classroom’s specific educational objectives. Additional NASA products and tools will be introduced (as time allows) that may assist participants when identifying resources required to allow for students to connect phenomena to a complex model.
