Quantum computing is more than a buzzword; it’s time to bring it into the classroom!

Leaders: Elissa Levy, Phil Weiss, and Fernand Brunschwig

Dates: Aug 8-9, 2022 (9:00-3:00pm EDT, via Zoom)

About the Workshop

Quantum computing is more than a buzzword; it’s time to bring it into the classroom. In this 2-day workshop, teachers will explore the physics of quantum computing through the lens of a student. You’ll learn some basic quantum mechanics and explore existing quantum hardware by simulating quantum circuits. You’ll explore the problem classes tackled by quantum algorithms and learn how existing technology can be applied to solve real-world problems, such as the traveling salesperson. We’ll provide classroom-ready quantum computing materials, and you will have an opportunity at the end of the workshop to practice teaching a lesson you could deliver in the upcoming school year. Our target audience is secondary teachers (9-12) of CS, math, or physics. Note: Please do not register for this workshop if you participated in ‘Quantum Computing: A Weird & Wonderful New World’ last summer.
